Developing Alpaca Breeding Strategies through Herd Assessment and Performance Records

At this workshop alpaca breeders will learn skills to evaluate alpacas and develop a herd scoring system to keep competitive in a livestock business. A basic livestock model is used to define Seedstock producer goals and expectations so the student can successfully develop individual breeding targets and strategies. Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) are explained and their use integrated into this training program. Students will leave with a thorough knowledge of EPDs and will be ready to use them successfully in their own breeding programs.Cost: $135/$100 for 2nd person from the same farm by July 30. $175/$140 for 2nd person from the same farm after July 30.
