In part one of our three-part Summer in Terre Haute series, you learned the best places to shop, now we move onto entertainment and recreation! It’s been hard the past few months finding ways to entertain ourselves and be active when being confined to our own homes. With places opening back up, parks, museums, and theaters all around the United States are welcoming back customers and Terre Haute is no exception. Summer is the best time for recreation and entertainment, and we have no shortage of it. ENTERTAINMENTDuring the summer, Terre Haute offers many forms of entertainment. Now is the perfect time to enjoy a spectacular throwback at Terre Haute drive-in theater. This offers a safe and one-of-a-kind viewing of a movie. It’s been weeks of watching movies from our couches. The Moon Lite Drive-In Theater shows a variety of movies ranging from family films to classic throwback films to new releases. It works as a perfect date night, family outing, or even self-care day. Go for one specific movie or catch a double feature. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and radio for an experience that will bring interaction while still social distancing. You can kick back, relax, and enjoy a film from somewhere other than a couch. You can also find entertainment at any of the informative and interesting museums Terre Haute is home to. Spend some time at a distinguished art museum like The Swope or learn about one of the oldest brands in America at the Clabber Girl Museum. Spend some time this summer to reflect, learn, and even have fun at the many museums in Terre Haute. For a full list, check out our website for all the information. If you’re looking for some more interactive entertainment, Terre Haute’s Water Tower Estates Winery not only offers wine but is also bringing back their trivia! Test your knowledge and learn some facts about everything from Disney to Grey’s Anatomy. Check out their Facebook page to learn about the latest trivia dates and topics. More movie theaters and places for entertainment will slowly start reopening, but for now there’s still plenty to do. Terre Haute has an array of entertaining things to do that will keep you plenty occupied this summer! RECREATIONIf you’re truly looking for something outdoorsy to do, Terre Haute has plenty of options, both in the city and outside it. Spending time outdoors is one of the best things to do during the summer! If you want to get outdoors, it’s the time to take advantage of Terre Haute’s beautiful scenery and landscapes. Anyone, including families or couples can watch the ducks at Deming Park, walk the Indiana Veterans Memorial Mile, or visit the Dobbs Nature Center. Summer is the perfect season to enjoy an outdoor stroll and it’s extremely safe! If you’re looking for an adventure beyond a nature trail, check out all the sculptures throughout Terre Haute. The Wabash Valley’s Sculpture Collection offers an outdoor museum experience. Spend your day driving around or walking to try and find them all! If you’re looking to venture outside of Terre Haute a bit, we’re a short drive away from Turkey Run and Lincoln Trail State Park. Take a hike in the morning or afternoon and then head on back to the city to relax and enjoy the rest of your day. Now you can walk around somewhere other than your local neighborhood!
