Ride Terre Haute’s Newest Thrill
If you haven't brought your bike to Griffin Bike Park lately, it's time for another ride. And if you've never been? It's definitely time.
The nationally recognized park has added a new $150,000 paved pump track, creating another reason for kids, and kids at heart, to head south of Terre Haute for a day on two wheels. Even better, Griffin Bike Park is free to enjoy, and bikes are available for visitors who don't have one of their own. Just bring your sense of adventure.
A New Ride for All Ages
Located in the park's five-acre LZ Landing Zone Terrain Park, the new paved pump track is designed for riders to use the movement of their bodies and a little momentum to navigate rollers and turns rather than relying on constant pedaling.
That makes it approachable and fun for younger and developing riders, while experienced cyclists can work on speed, control and technique.
More Than 30 Miles to Explore
The new pump track is only the beginning. Griffin Bike Park offers more than 30 miles of trails along with beginner-friendly riding areas, dirt jumps, dual slalom, cross-country trails, technical features and skills areas for a wide range of ages and abilities.
And you don't have to be a mountain biker to enjoy Griffin. Hikers can explore the wooded trails, while the adaptive-equipment-friendly Freedom Trail helps make outdoor adventure accessible to more visitors.
Pack the bikes, or borrow one when you get there. Bring the helmets. Give yourself plenty of time to explore. Then head into Terre Haute for a great local meal and make a weekend out of it.
