2. Take a Bird Walk

​​To the north of the museum, you can stroll down Larry Bird Avenue, a charming street between 8th and 7th Streets, nestled between the Indiana State University campus and the Hulman Center. This spot offers a great photo opportunity as you imagine Larry Bird walking this very path on his way to becoming Terre Haute's hometown hero at the Hulman Center.

3. Snap a Selfie with Larry Legend

At the main South Entrance of the Hulman Center you will find the Larry Legend statue and historic marker. This 15-foot bronze sculpture immortalizes Bird in his iconic pose, capturing his larger-than-life presence on the basketball court. Local sculptor Bill Wolfe, also an ISU alum, depicted Bird in his No. 33 Sycamores jersey taking a shot. Take a moment to grab a selfie with the legend and pay tribute to the man who helped put Terre Haute on the map.

4. Relax at the Copper

Next door to the Larry Bird Museum, you can relax while dining at The Copper Bar. This local hotspot is brimming with basketball memorabilia including a treasure trove of artifacts celebrating Bird's time with the Boston Celtics and his days as a Sycamore. And, yes, Larry has been here... a few times!

5. Check Out the Throwback Mural

The Copper Bar's outdoor patio showcases a stunning two-story mural by local artist Becky Hochhalter. This mural, featuring the iconic Sports Illustrated cover of Larry Bird in his Indiana State University No. 33 jersey from the legendary 1979 NCAA season, is a fitting tribute to both the basketball icon and Terre Haute's rich basketball heritage. And, it just so happens that the mural is exactly 33 feet tall!

6. Bonus: ​Catch a game at Hulman Center
