Hello, my name is Emma Kocher! I am a summer intern for the THCVB. I
will be a senior this upcoming school year at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. I
am majoring in business administration with minors in digital marketing and
human resources. I was driven to choose this career path for my passion of
creativity and my compassion for meeting the needs of those in my community.
I am adopted from Datong, China and have been thriving in Terre Haute
since I was a little girl. During my childhood I played volleyball and was involved
in youth groups at the churches I attended. I also enjoyed summer camps when I
was a kid, and my favorite was “Trash to Treasure” at the Children’s Museum
where it was all things crafts!

During my experience at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, I have been
involved in a couple organizations on campus that have given me the opportunity
to grow professionally and personally. One of them is Future Business Leaders of
America where I develop the skills that I will need in my future job settings from
peers, professionals, and group readings. I am also a member of Service 31 where I
volunteer at various events to have an open heart and helping hand for those in
need in my community. A couple of my favorite events are creating blankets out of
plastic bags for those that are homeless and providing Christmas gifts for children
through Operation Christmas Child.

At the THCVB, it has been a pleasure to be a part of events that hold a
special place in the Terre Haute Community. One of my favorite memories was
being a part of Special Olympics by listening to the incredibly inspiring stories of
the athletes who have spent countless hours of dedication and perseverance to get
to this special moment. I also enjoyed being a part of the release of the new Terre
Haute Logo at the City Hall where I had the opportunity to connect with those in
the community by handing out giveaways. Besides the experience of the events, I
am grateful for the opportunity to be able to have hands-on experience with
photography and videography. My favorite spot filming was the charming
Sycamore Farmhouse Airbnb with Maggie and Moe’s Coffee Shop just downstairs!

I am forever thankful to Karen Dyer and Amy Dinkel for providing me the
opportunity to be a part of the THCVB intern experience.
