Terre Haute is preparing to host one of the most prestigious events in collegiate athletics with a citywide effort designed to extend the championship experience beyond the course. From arrival to departure, visitors will experience a connected community built around hospitality, accessibility, and celebration—designed to reflect the scale and significance of a national championship weekend.
Terre Haute will extend the championship experience beyond the course into the heart of the city.
Terre Haute is activating a coordinated Host City Experience designed to connect the championship to the entire community. A Host City Committee has been formed to align local partners, businesses, organizations, and civic leaders in support of championship weekend. The committee works in coordination with Indiana State University, the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the NCAA to enhance the visitor experience across every touchpoint.

The 2026 NCAA Division I Championships are expected to bring approximately:

- $2.3M–$3M in regional economic impact
- 4,300 hotel stays
- 1,300+ dining visits
The event builds on the long-standing impact of the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, which draws nearly 100,000 annual visitors and contributes approximately $10 million in annual economic activity to Vigo County.
